It looks like many cities around the country said the same thing. A Chick-fil-A is being built right here in my home town, but the closest one currently is in Naperville, about 15 or 20 minutes away. I wasn’t going to allow a few miles to keep me away from Chick-fil-A appreciation day, but I wasn’t prepared for what I saw when I got there. It was after 9:00 and they close at 10:00, so I knew I had plenty of time. I figured there would be a line at the drive through, but I imagined there would be no problem getting food. Boy was I wrong; in fact I was blown away.
The line into the restaurant snaked out the door through the parking lot and just about into the street in front, and they have a big parking lot. There were two lines for the drive through with cars 15 or 20 deep into the street. It was awesome to see, and encouraging too. I got to thinking as I witnessed it that if the secular progressive left wants to start a culture war, well, bring it on. They can’t win.
We know that what culture war there is was started by this same left back in the 1960s with its assault on traditional values, especially traditional sexual values. We see how that’s worked out with the breakdown of the family, sexually transmitted diseases, AIDS and “Fifty Shades of Grey”! Reality will not be mocked. Yet because the secular left dominates in professions with mass popular cultural influence, like media, entertainment and education (“Sacrificing boys to promote girls” shows one way how this happens), it only seems like the left is winning. Down in the trenches most Americans simply don’t share their values. We know that twice as many people in America self-identify as conservatives over liberals, 40 to 20 percent. Every state, I believe it’s 31, that has voted on re-defining marriage has rejected it.
Yet the mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel, asserted that Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago’s values. To this big city mayor, and those of Boston and San Francisco, to believe that marriage is what it has been for several thousand years in Western culture is to be a bigot! All of a sudden in 2012 it is controversial to state a fact of life? That marriage is obviously meant for opposite genders, because marriage exists solely because men and women can produce off spring? This is controversial? Of course it’s only controversial because the secular left media echo chamber says it is. Ask most any American you meet on the street if marriage between one man and one woman is controversial and they’ll look at you like you have another eye in your forehead. And I don’t care who they vote for or what their ideological disposition is; everyone knows that marriage as it has existed for millennia is normal. Two men or two women doing the same is not.
Does this mean I’m akin to being a racist? Of course not; just ask the 3,742 African-American pastors who have started an anti-Obama campaign because he believes marriage should be re-defined. But all along this has been the goal of the radicals who not only want to re-define marriage, but want to discredit traditional, especially Christian, sexual morality. They want people like me, and multitudes of those who visited a Chick-fil-A yesterday, to go into the closet, close the door, and not be heard from again; a completely secularized public squire cleansed of religion where only their values reign. The problem with those values, as we’ve seen with these big city mayors, is that they are totalitarian in nature; they squash liberty and free speech, because they come from a jealous god. The age of Obama is making this very, very clear.

Thank you for writing this.
Right on.
Conservatives need to support CFA and to boycott:
Oreos (Nabisco, earlier this summer, put them in a bag featuring a cookie with a multicolored gay-pride stuffing) Cheerios, Pillsbury pastries and Green Giant vegetables (owner General Mills is opposing a Minnesota constitutional amendment that would outlaw gay marriage).
JC Penney, which has put pictures of gay dads in its catalogs and uses Ellen Degeneres as its spokeswoman Apple hates Christians and conservatives – they censored the Manhattan declaration while allowing all kinds of perverse apps on their store – are our faith and our values worth less than a glossy gadget?
Amazon’s CEO hates conservative values, so does facebook – they shut down Mike Huckabee’s Chick-fil-A appreciation site for 12 hours right before CFA D-day.
Is it sensible to give our money to powerful corporations who are working to smear our views and to destroy our your 1st Amendment rights?
Anderson’s Book Shop in Naperville tried to bring domestic terrorist William Ayers to Naperville for a book signing and talk.
Anderson’s does NOT represent Naperville’s family values.
Based on the precedent set by Chicago, I believe that Anderson’s business license should be revoked.
Mike D’Virgilio and The American Culture:
Forget about your reprehensible, hypocritical “morals.” What I want to know is:
Are you people SERIOUSLY?! THIS?! BRAIN-DEAD?!?
For your information, Naperville, Illinois, DOES NOT have a Chick-fil-A restaurant! The restaurant you (apparently) are referring to is in AURORA, Illinois!
Here. Since it’s obviously TOO DIFFICULT for you to manage on your own, allow me to SHOW you:
http://www.cfarestaurant.com/foxvalleycenter/home
Says right there in their address box: AURORA, Illinois. (I’ll bet the word “Aurora” appears on D’Virgilio’s Chick-fil-A receipt, too.)
You can’t even get one of “The Five W’s of Journalism” right! And then you wonder why we independents LAUGH OUR A–ES OFF at you umb-dass, Ultra-Right-Wing-Looney Tunes.
The headline to this story SHOULD read:
“Naperville to The American Culture: up YOURS!”
W.J. what are you so angry about? Naperville is right across the street. Is that close enough for you? You wonderfully make my point. I appreciate it.
Oh. OK.
I guess that would make you “close enough” to being someone the rest of us should take seriously.
God Almighty, man. You make Palin and George “DUHHH-bya” Bush look like Plato and Einstein.
